Hillary Clinton is a hypocrite.  You know why?  Because after she gave her speech on climate change, she…. wait for it…. GOT ON A PRIVATE JET to take her to her next destination!

That’s the “story” from the right wing today as evidenced by, among other places, The Daily Mail which even provided video of Hillary’s hypocrisy (Look!  She’s boarding a private plane!).

I’m not sure what sure what this criticism is saying.  So Hillary Clinton is LYING when she speaks in opposition to climate change?  She’s actually a rightie on that issue?

Or maybe, Hillary is in favor of fighting climate change, but she doesn’t want to make sacrifices herself?  So, therefore, in order to show that she is TRULY against climate change, she is supposed to walk or ride a bike from Iowa to New Hampshire?

This is silly pointless criticism.

It should be stressed that the model of the private jet that Clinton was riding on, the Dassault Falcon, is one of the most ecologically efficient private jets on the market.  The particular model, the 900B, is a little old, but it still exceeds many modern ones in terms of its small carbon footprint.

As the Daily Mail points out, it gets burns 347 gallons of fuel per hour.  What the Daily Mail doesn’t say is that the Falcon has a cruising speed of 590 miles per hour.  That comes out to 1.7 miles per gallon.  A lot you say?  Consider that the jet is carrying 16 people (not including the crew).  16 people at 1.7 miles per gallon is fairly good.  For flight.

It’s also amusing the the Daily Mail makes a lot of the fact that Hillary boarded a FRENCH-made aircraft.  Like that has to do with climate change how?
