To be honest, I think we will see some blowback and moderate success from the McCain tactics, especially on Ayres.

I know, it's stupid.  Obama served on a board, possibly two, with another guy who, 40 years ago, was a member of a radical group in the 1960's.  Somehow, that translates to "he was pallin' around with terrorists".  Of course, if Ayres is a terrorist, what is he doing running around free?  Pointless, but there are some people who will think this means that Obama is, um, a terrorist, or something.

UPDATE:  Speaking of associations from the past…

The U.S. Council for World Freedom was part of an international organization linked to former Nazi collaborators and ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America. The group was dedicated to stamping out communism around the globe.

The council’s founder, retired Army Maj. Gen. John Singlaub, said McCain became associated with the organization in the early 1980s as McCain was launching his political career in Arizona. Singlaub said McCain was a supporter but not an active member in the group.
